I Don’t Like Virtual Reality
VR is stupid and meaningless
I know that this is an uncommon thought to have, Virtual Reality is supposed to be the future, but I really don’t get it. I don’t get why I have to delude myself with a visor watching things that aren’t there, I mean, screens are enough. I am scared by the crave that people have to avoid reality at any cost, in exchange of a fake one: this is pathological. I am a lover of the world, the real one, not some stupid Meta something run by billionaires companies who will become even richer. People are entranced by the virtual world for only two reasons: fear and control. You cannot control the real reality, it is scary and crazy to have clear in your mind this fact, you’re not in control of your entire life. Here comes the fear, on the other hand, a virtual world is manipulated, a secure environment to live in, no war or injustice can happen if you don’t want to, you can always unplug yourself from the Matrix. The feeling is that people want to migrate in mass into the metaverse; a safe place to live, like a lot of persons think of living on Mars, the crazy project of Elon Musk. This is avoidance of reality, we don’t need to run away from our wounded world, we have to heal it, to heal ourselves. This is not easy, not as easy as immersing yourself in a visor, but surely it is better in the long run for the Earth, the animals, the plants and for us human beings as a species.
