Rumors Of War

I hear the airplanes coming,

I hear the thunders of the bombs flashing and blowing

I hear the desperate hauls of innocent people

I see dead children all around me,

the young blood spilled out from their little bodies

the enemy is near and my old life is far,

far away from here, I want to run,

I want to hide, but no place is safe enough

for me to cry, to smile, to laugh, to live,

I’m sobbing naked on my knees

waiting for the gaze of a friend who can feel

what I feel, think what I think and just be with me,

take me to another place, another life, with every scar

filled with flowers, every tear becomes sapphire,

every scream a sublime melody, every blood stain

a brush stroke of a wonderful paint, the portrait of what we could be

as human life, rip the old canvas, we need to start this new painting,

the future is in our brushes and the peace in our minds,

let’ begin this new life!
